Republicans Sour on Nation’s Moral Climate

In contrast to Democrats, majority now say moral values are “poor”

June 12, 2008
by Lydia Saad

PRINCETON, NJ — Republicans have grown more critical of the state of moral values in the United States, with the percentage rating present moral conditions “poor” rising from 36% in 2006 to 51% in 2007, and remaining at that level today. No comparable change is seen among independents or Democrats. (read the entire story here)

This article speaks volumes to how the GOP is shunning the Judeo-Christian conservative base. They’d better wake up and realize they need our vote … otherwise we’ll wake up on Wed., 11/5 to President Obama!

Why Values Matter- Republican appointed justices approve gay marriage

While Republican candidates and organizations send out a flurry of press releases and statements decrying last week’s California Supreme Court decision, few in the GOP have discussed the fact that three of the four judges who voted to legalize same-sex marriage were appointed by Republicans. Joyce Kennard (Deukmeijan), Kathryn Mickle (Wilson) and Chief Justice Ronald George (Wilson) joined Carlos Moreno (Davis), the only Democrat on the Supreme Court in legalizing same-sex marriage.

If there was ever an argument for supporting Real Republican candidates, it is the travesty that has been hoisted upon the voters of California by these liberal Republican Supreme Court justices. Take for example Chief Justice Ronald George. He was appointed to the Court in 1991 by Gov. Pete Wilson and has too often been on the wrong side of Republican values in his rulings.

In 1996 he and Justice Mickle were in the minority of a 4-3 decision that upheld a law requiring minors to obtain their parent’s consent before getting an abortion. A year later, Justice George would be a part of the 4-3 majority who, in an unprecedented move voted to overturn their own ruling.

It is also worth noting that the key to this reversal was the fact that Justice Armand Arabian, who voted to protect parents’ rights retired not long after the first decision. Unfortunately, he was then replaced by Justice Ming Chin, another Wilson appointee who would then vote to overturn the parental consent law passed by the legislature.

This just goes to show how schizophrenic our Republican controlled court can be when it comes to moral issues; one minute they are constitutional, the next minute they are not. Too many of their rulings have been textbook examples of liberal judicial activism. AND THESE ARE REPUBLICAN APPOINTEES!!!!

I would hate to see what the court would be like with a bunch of Democrat appoints. Of course, with Republicans like these, who needs Democrats?

Memo to Republicans: If we elect Real Republicans, we will get Real Justices and Real Justice!

OSE’S DESPERATE DESPERATION

In an act of sheer desperation, insiders report that Doug Ose, the liberal Republican candidate for CD4, has loaned his campaign $200,000 on Thursday and another $500,000 on Friday. This news comes fresh on the heels of another sweeping defeat by Senator Tom McClintock at the debate held at William Jessup University on Thursday, May 8th. Ose posed and pandered during the entire debate, but he could not give the audience one good reason why he should be the next Congressman for CD4. As a matter of fact McClintock did his homework and pointed out that Ose voted just as many times against Republicans as he voted with the Democrats! Because of his liberal voting record, the crowd received a special treat – the Team Ose mascot appeared – a donkey [symbolizing Ose’s true party affiliation] wearing a t-shirt inscribed with “I Raised Your Taxes.” How appropriate!

Now that Ose has loaned himself $700,000, no doubt he’ll use the money to buy more TV ads [which Channel 10 told the audience they were most appreciative] in a feeble attempt to discredit Senator Tom McClintock. Or maybe he needs new shopping carts and maps? In any event, the voters in the largely conservative Republican congressional district must surely be growing weary of Ose’s baseless and repetitive attack ads, as witnessed by the boos he received Thursday night when he brought up the legislative per diem … again. That message is getting old and just isn’t resonating with the voters.

As a former constituent of Mr. Ose in CD3, I want to point out an untruth he told at the debate Thursday night. He said that while he was the representative for CD3 he held over 600 townhall meetings, “equating to three a week.” That’s really odd, I don’t remember receiving any invitations to attend any Ose townhall meetings, let alone three a week! And when I spoke to one of Mr. Ose’s former aides [who now works for McClintock] at the end of the debate, he even said that was untrue because he was responsible for scheduling the townhall meetings! I was going through my computer tonight to count all the letters on the various issues and legislation I wrote to Mr. Ose when he was my representative, and on the majority of those letters I never even received a single response! Apparently Mr. Ose was too busy playing politician and collecting over $600,000 while he was a sitting member on the Agriculture Committee in Washington, to respond to his constituents. How sad!

The constituents n CD4 deserve more than a Washington politician; they deserve a man who will really represent them and the issues in CD4. That man is Tom McClintock!

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP

Dear Republican Leaders:

Back in September, 2007, I received a letter from our California Republican leaders asking for my support to advance the common values and priorities by developing a clear and straightforward California Republican Party platform. While California Republicans had sense enough to realize Republican Party values and principles matter, a new four year platform was passed that remains pro-life and pro-traditional family values. But there’s still one more hurdle: the National Republican Party Platform.

Recently the Republican National Committee named Congressman Kevin McCarthy as the National Republican Party Platform Chair. It is a well-known fact Congressman McCarthy is not a friend to pro-life conservatives and this should concern the conservative base. The Republican Party Platform is slated to be the most important and most politically divided in American history. With Republican voter registration the lowest in history, I cannot blame several of my close friends for leaving the Republican Party because lately the Party has abandoned the Republican principles and values as stated in our Party Platform.

In their letter, the California Republican leaders proudly proclaimed the vision of the late great President Ronald Reagan and his position on the issues of lower taxes; a strong national defense; defeating communism; individual freedom, and limited government. And they purposely managed to leave out the other important core principles that clearly state what the Republican Party also stand for: traditional family values and the sanctity of human life from birth to natural death. These are also core values that Ronald Reagan stood for.

Adoption of the National Republican Party Platform is our Party’s statement of belief and goals. Some take them seriously and others could care less; and yes, they can be very wordy. But the Republican Party Platform is also the creed by which we can strengthen what Republicans believe to be our statement of principles, and we hope that others will join our Party. It is also the standard by which we can hold our elected officials accountable.

In 1992, the hottest issue surrounding our Republican Party Platform was the attempt to remove the pro-life plank. That year proved that the pro-life plank is the beachhead of the Republican Party; the Party cannot win without the support of the pro-life contingency. To date not a single pro-abortion candidate has entered a race and won.

In 1996 presidential nominee Bob Dole said, “I’ve never read the Republican Party Platform and I’m not bound by it anyway.” The leadership in California made the blanket statement that the current Republican Party Platform is “unwieldy, hard to follow and for the most part, unread by the very people we want to share our core beliefs with”, was a statement made in ignorance. If they don’t know about it, it’s because the current Republican leadership fail to live by it.

In August, 2004, the former president of Log Cabin Republicans of Sacramento, Jeff Scott, participated in an interview on Sacramento’s radio station KFBK. In that interview, Jeff Scott responded to the question regarding the Republican Party platform – approved by the Party against homosexual marriage. He stated, “no one reads the [party] platform, so who cares?” He also went on to say, “I don’t give the platform a whole lot of credence basically.” His words eerily reflect the statement made by Bob Dole in 1992.

Clearly there are those in our Party who are intent on “changing the party from the inside.” One way to do that is by changing the Republican Party Platform; to strip away what it really means to be a Republican based on the Party’s core values, so that the Republican Party is nothing more than the Democrat party with a Republican name.

If the Republican Party expects to keep Republicans or to reach out and bring people into the Republican Party, we must retain the traditional family values and pro-life planks in the National Republican Party Platform. It is erroneous for the Party leadership to believe that there are only five core principles that distinguish the Republicans from the Democrats; the Republican Party Platform matters.

I am strongly urging the Republican National Committee not to change the National Republican Party Platform.  Instead advance it by each and every candidate and elected official being a model of what it stands for. If every one Republican were to live by those core values and principles, the Republican Party would see more people come into the one true Party “for the people” and we would see more states become a Red states.

Do You Speak Liberal?

Since I purchased my new Toyota Prius I was told I’ll have to endure endless teasing for the next six months.  No problem.  I just want my friends to know that while they’re having to fill up at the gas station every week, I’ll only have used half a tank!  Besides, being conservative means wanting to keep more of my money in my wallet!

It’s no secret that our friends on the left have a dialect all their own. Consider these examples of liberalese, followed by what they actually mean:

THERE ARE TWO AMERICAS.
We feel guilty for our comfortable upbringing.

THE CONSTITUTION IS A LIVING DOCUMENT.
The Constitution outlaws what we want to do, so we want to get rid of it.

PROTECT SOCIAL SECURITY.
We worked for it, and it is not our generation’s problem.

BUSH LIED TO SEND US TO WAR FOR OIL.
We try to forget that Clinton and Biden supported disarming Saddam.

WE NEED TO RESTORE AMERICA’S STANDING IN THE WORLD.
Let’s abandon our Iraqi allies by ending the war and bringing our troops home.

WE NEED TO SEE PAST RACE.
We need to identify minorities and give them preferential treatment.

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION GIVES MINORITIES AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY.
Holding our base of voters to a lower standard helps us keep their support.

THE SYSTEM IS RIGGED AGAINST POOR FAMILIES.
We’re the ones who rigged it, but they don’t need to know that.

TAX FAIRNESS IS IMPORTANT FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
We want to tax the rich and corporations – and raise cap gains.

TAX CUTS ONLY BENEIFT THE RICH.
We don’t’ want to help anybody who makes more than we think they deserve.

HUMAN LIFE BEGINS AT BIRTH.
Human life begins when it’s convenient for an individual.

AMERIANS NEED AFFORDABLE AND ACCESSIBLE HEALTHCARE.
Americans need a socialist healthcare system that will cost billions in taxes.

GREEN COLLAR JOBS ARE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE.
We are going to tax and take down “Big Oil” (domestic energy producers) to create more union-friendly jobs.

I HAVE REDUCED MY CARBON FOOTPRINT.
I buy overpriced and “eco-friendly” trendy clothes, food and cars – but still own huge homes and jet set all across the world.

SEPTEMBER 11th WAS A U.S. GOVERNMENT RUN CONSPIRACY.
Bush and Guiliani handled the situation too well, so we need to turn it around on them.AMERICA NEEDS COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM.
Illegal aliens need amnesty.
BIG BUSINESS HURTS THE ECONOMY.
Any business that prefers low taxes and may donate to Republicans must be stopped.

WASHINGTON IS PLAGUED WITH A “CULTURE OF CORRUPTION.”
We despise Republican ethics scandals in Congress, but please ignore the scandals on our side of the aisle.

DID YOU KNOW?

The elephant is now the official symbol of the Republican Party, but Democrats have never officially adopted the donkey?

You Bet Your …. Elephant

Reposted from Townhall, April 2008

Republicans and Democrats alike can thank a German immigrant for giving them their Party symbols.  Both the elephant and donkey emblems originated in cartoons that Thomas Nast drew for Harper’s Weekly in the 19th century.  Though the donkey was first used to represent Andrew Jackson himself (called a “jackass” on the 1828 campaign trail) and later as a symbol for his control of the Party, it didn’t take on national recognition until 1870 when Nast used it to symbolize an anti-war faction of the Democrat Party kicking the recently deceased Edwin M. Stanton, Lincoln’s secretary of war.  Four years later, Nast created a cartoon that depicted the Republican vote as an elephant.  Drawing inspiration from a rival publication’s recent publicity stunts for the editorial content and imagery, the Democratic donkey reemerged here dressed in a lion’s costume chasing several animals, including an elephant.  Now you know …

Support the Platform Launches Radio ad Campaign to Take Back the Republican Party

(Sacramento) – “…like you, I’m tired of ‘so-called’ Republicans claiming to support the Republican principles of smaller government, lower taxes and family values just in order to get my vote.” This is how local conservative radio personality, Eric Hogue begins the new radio advertisement for Support the Platform (STP), a local conservative grassroots group fighting to elect candidates who actually support Republican values. (Click Here to Listen)

“All successful movements begin at the grassroots level,” points out Craig DeLuz, Chairman of STP, “Whether political, cultural or spiritual, change happens when the people are motivated into action. And Republicans are sick and tired of Republicans acting like Democrats.”

This radio ad is part of an aggressive campaign strategy by STP to change the direction of the Sacramento County Republican Party (SCRP) and help elect candidates who are committed to supporting core GOP principles, as outlined in the Republican Party Platform. STP has also launched a website www.SupportThePlatform.org to provide voters with up-to-date news and information on Republicans running for office in Sacramento County, and where they stand on the issues important to Republican voters. The website will also feature Republican candidates for other offices who have signed the “STP Pledge” declaring their commitment to support Republican values as outlined in the California Republican Party Platform.

The SCRP Central Committee is the official arm of the Republican Party in Sacramento County. Thirty-one of the Committee’s 44 members are elected by Republican voters in Sacramento County and run by Supervisorial District. The other 13 are positions held by Republican elected officials or Party nominees for various partisan offices. “We actually have a say in the direction of our Party,” exclaims DeLuz, “It’s time for Republicans to make it clear that we are not interested in becoming a ‘Democrat-lite’ party.”

Will the Real Republicans Please Stand Up?

Sacramento Republican Activists Launch Effort to Support the Republican Wing of the Republican Party

(Sacramento) – Limited government, lower taxes and family values are just a few things that voters usually associate with the Republican Party. But recently, elected Republican officials have been actively taking positions against these bedrock Republican values and have supported efforts to increase minimum wage, driving up unemployment; proposed a tax increase on homeowners to pay for fire protection that they are already paying for; and fighting against an effort to protect the definition of marriage, as between a man and a women. Some say you can hardly tell the Republicans from the Democrats these days.

This has caused a group of Republican Party activists in Sacramento to launch an effort to take back their Republican Party. Today, Support the Platform (STP) officially announced their slate of candidates for the Sacramento County Republican Party Central Committee, along with their plans to help Real Republicans get elected. Our goal is to make sure that we elect Republican candidates to office who actually support Republican values, declared Craig DeLuz, Chairman of STP. Our values are outlined in our Republican Party platform. And if you want to represent Republicans in office, we believe you should support Republican principles.

The Sacramento County Republican Party Central Committee (SCRP) is the official arm of the Republican Party in Sacramento County. Thirty-one of the Committee 44 members are elected by Republican voters in Sacramento County and run by Supervisorial District. The other 13 are positions held by Republican elected officials or party nominees for various partisan offices. For too long we have allowed our Party to be controlled by people who are hostile to what we as Republicans stand for, exclaimed Mali Currington, a candidate for the Ninth Assembly District in Sacramento, I for one am glad to see Real Republicans standing up to be counted.

STPs efforts will start with the upcoming June primary where efforts are under way to elect their slate of candidates to the GOP Central Committee. Additionally, they are asking other Republican candidates to sign the STP Pledge declaring their commitment to support Republican values as outlined in the California Republican Party Platform. They also have launched a website http://www.supporttheplatform.org/ to provide readers with up to date news and information on Republicans running for office in Sacramento County and where they stand on the issues important to Republican voters.

According to DeLuz, We will be on the radio, on the web and in Republicans mailboxes letting them know there are still Republicans out there who believe in the values that make this Nation great.

Should Republicans compromise their values in order to win? A lesson from the Compromise of 1877…

There are many in the Republican Party who claim that the only way we can win is by changing our positions on some of the more controversial issues. Specifically, they would like to see us eliminate our Party’s opposition to abortion and same-sex marriage, as is outlined in our party platform.

It is for these folks that I offer this brief history lesson, outlining what happens when we compromise what we knew to be right in order to win an election. It was Republican’s agreement to the Compromise of 1877 eventually ended reconstruction and ushered in 100 years of Jim Crowe and oppression of blacks, all so we could have a Republican in the white house .

Are Conservatives Stuck on Stupid?

The following is a letter sent out by the Republican Party Chairman of San Benito County, Marvin Jones. In his letter, he includes and excerpt from the resignation letter of former Lake County Republican Party Chairman, Steve Davis who declares that the California Republican Party is “Stuck on Stupid” for not eliminating the Pro-life & Pro Marriage planks of our parties platform.

This letter just goes to show why it is so important for those Republicans who do believe in protecting innocent life and traditional marriage to stand up and be counted. I pray that this letter finds it way to as many republican voters in Lake and San Benito Counties as possible. I think they would like to know what their leadership thinks of Republican values.

__________________________

Fellow Republicans:

We will miss Steve Davis, Past Chairman, Lake County Central Committee, at the County Chairman’s Association.  He recently resigned in order to fulfill his prior commitment to the Rotary Club.

I would like to share one paragraph of Steve’s resignation letter:

“In closing, I would like to take this opportunity to offer one last bit of advice to my beloved Party of Lincoln.  As most of you have determined by now I am a very conservative person, but mixed with a strong streak of reality.  Sadly, I consider the party to be currently “Stuck on Stupid”, and it isn’t getting any better.  I was disappointed that the party failed to take the opportunity to drop the abortion plank at the convention and move the party ahead.    I believe this to be a religious issue that should be brought forth through the church community and IF there is enough clout to change Roe vs. Wade, it should come from there, and politicians will probably favor the religious vote on their own, without strangling the whole party and members like myself in the process.”

It was the “stuck on stupid” phrase that caught my eye.  It reminded me of an episode recounted in Louis Gould’s book “Grand Old Party.”

The Republican Party was young, successful and cocky.  In order to ‘produce a more godly and pious society,’ many state Republican Parties pushed for blue laws, close taverns and no baseball games on Sunday are examples.  In 1890, the Republicans lost 78 seats in the House along with their majority.  This was when there were only 323 members in the House.  The Democrats ended up with a greater than 2.5 to 1 majority.

The California Republican party, through its platform, is repeating history.  It appears we have taken the position that moral purity is more important than winning elections.  All we need to do is lose two (2) senate seats and five (5) assembly seats and we will have less than 1/3 of the seats in both branches in Sacramento.  That could easily happen after the 2010 census and the redistricting (gerrymandering) that will follow.  I do not need to expand on the significance of a 2 to 1 majority for the Democrats.  We will become irrelevant.

Steve also said,” Now we have an electable Presidential Candidate, in spite of George Bush, and we Republicans are willing to risk defeat by being slow to rally get behind him.  He isn’t everything to any of us, but he is the only one who can bring in the middle ground and beat either Obama or Clinton.  Let’s go, people.”

So lets us get to work, retain Jeff Denham and work hard for John McCain.

San Benito County Republican Party

ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER TOO POLITICALLY CORRECT!

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE EDITOR OF THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER BY ROSEMARY LaBONTE

Dear Editor:

So many letter writers have based their arguments on how this land is made up of immigrants. Ernie Lujan for one, suggests we should tear down the Statue of Liberty because the people now in question aren’t being treated the same as those who passed through Ellis Island and other ports of entry.

Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan why today’s American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and are documented. Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home.

They had waved good-bye to their birthplace to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture.

Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity. Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought along side men whose parents had come straight over from Germany, Italy, France and Japan.

None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan. They were defending the United States of America as one people. When we liberated France, no one in those villages was looking for the French-American or the German American or the Irish American.

The people of France saw only Americans. And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country’s flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl.

And here we are in 2008 with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I’m sorry, that’s not what being an American is all about.

I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900’s deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life. I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags.

And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty, it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill. I wouldn’t start talking about dismantling the United States just yet.

Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed – A Movie Review and Apathy Reality

By Georgiana Preskar-Director
Eagle Forum of Sacramento

People say, “If we don’t fix America soon, we will lose our freedoms.”  We already have lost our freedoms!

Tonight we went to see Ben Stein’s new movie, Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed.  Many people do not know about it; why should they, for the media is not going to advertise it.  The churches certainly will not talk about it.  Many movie theaters would not show it. Some people just do not want to see it.

Fortunately The Century in Elk Grove did show it.  It is a powerful movie about Darwinism and Intelligent Design.  Clearly academic freedoms to present Intelligent Design, and/or Creationism, as possibilities, are gone, but this applies to all areas of truth in America today.  Freedom to speak out is unacceptable and you will pay a price if you cross the line!

Five years ago I began my adventure into the discovery of why America had changed.  I honestly believed that if people heard the truth of nationwide deception in schools and workplaces, through my writings and speaking engagements, they would be concerned and take action.  Certainly, presenting the Day of Silence and outrageous programs like SEED, with documented evidence would outrage parents and citizens.  I was convinced that they would take their children out of schools on that day; that churches would ask members to speak out against programs that not only abuse adults, but also our most vulnerable citizens: children and teens.

Yet no one spoke out.  In fact Christians were silent.  We sent over 100 letters to pastors, ministers, and priests in regards to Day of Silence and the SEED program; only one pastor responded.  Even people in some conservative organizations did nothing to support our effort to stop the Day of Silence or diversity programs such as SEED.  It was a rude awakening to apathy reality.

The last week I have tried to write updates about legislation, issues surrounding the next election, and other topics.  I was not able to write.  The reality of our loss of freedoms made me sick to my stomach.

No one can speak out anymore without receiving hate mail and even life threatening notes.  A Catholic orphanage had to close its doors after 100 years because the homosexuals have become so powerful that they demanded children be given to them in adoption.  God bless the orphanage for closing their doors in Massachusetts, rather than handing over children to homosexual couples.

Brigitte Bardot, in France, was arrested and could be fined $23,000 for saying that the Muslims intruded in her country, destroyed it, and that they need to leave.  An Oklahoma Assemblywoman, Sally Kern, received thousands of hate mails because she said the homosexuals cause a greater threat to America than the terrorists.  She has to have security guards because of many life-threatening emails.  Capitol Resource Institute’s website was shut down by hackers because of the work they are doing to fight legislation that is homosexual oriented.

Now this courageous man, Ben Stein, has called the scientific community on their politically correct agenda when dealing with Darwinism and Intelligent Design.  It is an outstanding movie; creative, truthful, and profound.  Do not miss it and tell others about it.

God bless this man for his work and effort.  After writing two books, I understand the frustration connected with trying to deliver the truth to closed minds that are addicted to diversity thinking.

However, our job is not to know the outcome of our efforts, or to avoid frustration, but to be the best we can be in delivering His word. Ben Stein accomplished this and that is the truth!
